Okay, these meme/2014socialstyle/w/e promos from Teennick are the worst EVER! MTV isn’t all that great, but it’s so much better than Teennick’s pathetic excuse for promos. Also, god, I miss MuchMusic’s promos. They were SOOO much better and seem like a major breath of fresh air compared to these ones. But, what can do you do, right?
That has to be teen nick’s worse promo ever. I think there was one time that TN had a better promo than muchmusic. I use to like Zig before the summer break, but now I’m just ugh. Hopefully there’s an actual relate able reason for his choices. Miles has his issues and family problems, but of the two right now, he seems to treat her better and isn’t leading her down a troublesome path with peer pressure.

Stephen Stohn has stated that new main characters will be added throughout the season(i.e, Tony, Keisha, Hunter). Recently, there have been pictures that he has posted of the cast, and one of the new cast members is confirmed to be portrayed by Niamh Wilson, a popular canadian teen actress. With the earlier revelation from Mr. Stohn himself being that one of the new characters introduced this season will be related to either a current or past character, I cant help but think that this character will be the one portrayed by Niamh Wilson.
Now, here’s the catch…I think this character will be related to Campbell Saunders, and it will be his sister. To start off with, in season 12 it was revealed that Campbell had a younger sister(in a scene where he was looking at a picture of his family wearing ice hound jerseys), and moreover Niamh Wilson does largely resemble Dylan Everett in looks, so I don’t think my theory could be far-fetched. Only loop-hole would be the reasoning behind why Cam’s sister would attend Degrassi at this point in time in the fictional universe. That being said, the writer’s have felt the negative reaction of the fans in removing Cam from the show, as many considered him to be one of the most popular and relatable characters of the show. I think in order to maintain connections with Cam’s character on the show and to give the fans something back, the writers will introduce Cam’s sister on the show in season 13.
What do you think of this theory? If it indeed turns out to be true, what implications will this have on Maya’s character, just as she was moving on from Cam?
That would be SUCH a great story line! Like, having her go up to Tristan, Miles and Maya and introduce herself and when she says her last name is Saunders, seeing Maya’s reaction would be EXCELLENT. Then having Tristan say, “Are you related to Cam Saunders?” and then her answer being, “Yes, I’m his sister” would be SUCH a great scene especially Maya trying to control herself. It’d even be more interesting if she blamed Maya for Cam’s death since he technically killed himself for her. (Grieving people who lose someone always have to blame someone, in my defense.) And having Maya having to deal with that all over again would be, like I said, a pretty interesting plot line for her since she just wants to move on past that time of her life. I also wonder if that would be the way Miles learns about Cam and Maya’s tragic relationship together.
The pics of Niamh Wilson were on his twitter page. Several pics of her chilling with the cast, it can also be seen on Degrassi Wikia if you search her name. I really hope my prediction is true, because I can’t think of another character that the new character introduced would be related to other than Cam; no one has had as big an impact on the fans in exiting the show as Cam has (apart from JT). With Cam still fresh in fan’s memories, I think the new character will be related to him.
On a sidenote, do you guys think if the writers had gone against the idea of Cam exiting the show in season 12 and brought his character forward in season 13, that ”Miles” wouldn’t exist in Degrassi? Same with if Tori had stayed, maybe ”Zoe” wouldnt have been introduced?
The problem with bringing Cam’s sister onto the show is that it’s almost too big of a loophole, and any way it’s done it’ll probably come off as contrived (unless her character had a very temporary role, for instance the family comes down to visit the school on the anniversary of his death). But in terms of her being a regular? It wouldn’t make sense. Cam’s family is from Kapuskasing, why would they suddenly move 9 hours away and enroll their daughter at Degrassi when the school year is almost over? This is the same Degrassi who brought Alex Steele back as Tori instead of Angela Jeremiah because they said they couldn’t figure out a way to make it make sense.
Also, why would the show go through such hoops to set up Maya to go through another Cam storyline this way, when the only time the show has had Maya even reference Cam in season 13 is through a vague mention? I’d much rather them have her deal with lingering issues cropping up on their own first before bringing someone in to trigger things. But if they’d decided to keep Cam, I don’t know if Miles would exist, but if he did there’s no way it’d be in the capacity he is now in terms of him being with Maya…the father issues still might be around though. It’s hard to think Zoë would exist if Tori were still around since she’d be an odd person out with Tristan, Maya Cam and Tori hanging out.
I like Zig’s character. I wish he’d have his own A plot and we’d learn more about him. On a side note, I wonder if the actor is gay IRL. Not that it matters; just curious. My gaydar goes off whenever I see him.
